Re: die offs

Forums:

I have been having one good day where I have very little symptoms and then the next day is horrible whether with frequency or anxiety or pain or all of them or just a combination.  You all speak of due offs. Could just going on the stage one diet with no herbal remedies cause die offs?  Maybe that is why my anxiety is do strong?  Is anxiety a form if a die off?    I meant die offs not due offs!

Re: my first appointment with Dr Brizman

Forums:

I am not very good about answering questions on the spot about my condition and am worried I may not give Dr Brizman my whole picture in our short visit. Does anyone remember  well the questions she posed to you during your appointment? I thought if I knew better ahead of time I could prepare my answers better. Ally gave a great list of questions to be prepared for at your monthly phone call visits, but I thought the initial visit would include more questions.

Any advice anyone has for preparing for this visit would be great too.

Re: red meat

Forums:

Is it okay to have red meat every day?  And is hamburger meat an okay choice?  Has anyone made meat balls with it?

I never ate meat much before.  Sometimes sausage , but I mostly had chicken. You always hear its not great to eat too much meat so it feels very odd to be eating it regularly now. I need to know how much is recommended weekly so that I don't overdo it.

Also, I had lamb again the next day with no reaction sobi suspect now that it was the ground turkey that I had a reaction to.

Thanks

Sue

Re: stress

Forums:

I hope everyone is not getting tired of my postings. But I really need to reach out tonight. I have been very stressed over my daughters situation all day and then went to physical therapy where the therapist basically implied that my bladder and rectal wall are pro lapsing and therapy won't be much help. She had mo idea how i would ever be able to fix it.  Great.  Then she told me swimming is the best exercise - which I can not do now that I have IC!  She didn't even think walking was good for me - which is what I have been doing a lot of.

Re: daughter and eating disorder and health

Forums:

I need advice  regarding my 20 year old's problem with an eating disorder. She has been struggling with it for four years and actually improved a year and a half ago only to go down hill once again. She has had a very recent problem with her left kidney having urine reflux back from her bladder. She does not get her period and has acid reflux. She basically eats salads with some chicken , occasionally granola , and well  I am not really sure because I can't monitor her as she has a job and keeps busy.  She restricts herself from foods but is not bulemic.

Husband has cold/flu would like to give him herbs

Forums:

Hey you guys :) So my hubby has a terrible sore throat and is getting the icky cold stuff that's going around. I want to give him some herbs but don't know how many and what. When I was at Dr Bs I took home some Gan Mao Ling, Ear Formula, goldenseal and siberian eluthero.I also have the other common ones like probiotics, RP and other vitamins. I know she just did a post and said some of these are good to have on hand for cold and flu for our families but I have no idea how to dose them out.

Organic?

Forums:

Me again:

I have been unable to find ANYTHING BUT extra virgin olive oil in France. The only time where I'm not worried about the quality of what's going into my body and they don't have the chemical substitute! The irony!

Have people been able to find organic virgin olive oil in the States? Also, how much does Dr. B emphasize the importance of organic? Is there a brand she recommends for olive oil?

I'm a little skeptical just because I really dislike chemicals at the moment, and realize that non extra virgin most likely means chemicals!

Grains??

Forums:

Hi there,

So I re-read (for the trillionth time) List 1. I am not sure how well I tolerate carbs in general or grains. She says if a grain isn't tolerated take it out of the diet for up to 4 weeks and retry...

Before doing this I decided to try the grains and the proteins separately since I read that for people with GERD (like me) sometimes eating carbs and proteins in the same meal can increase symptoms.

Soy in eggs

Forums:

I was shopping at my local health  food store and found cartons of local eggs advertising no soy. When I inquired about this to an employee he told me many eggs come from chickens who are fed soy in their diet. So maybe that is why some people are experiencing a reaction to eggs.
